Warning...Star Fox Command spoilers ahead. Read at your own risk.
Yay, revisions! This was one of my first attempts to draw Fox AND Krystal after revamping my style in mid-2006. You can tell from the original [link] I still didn't have a grasp on side views, and I hadn't exactly figured out what I wanted either to look like. I'm finding with digital lineart, it's a lot easier to replicate similar views, so consistency is certainly on my side these days...not to mention everything else that presumably improved.
Probably one of my more popular pieces, Making Sense of Stupidity tries to explain the legitimacy behind kicking gamers in the face with the default ending to Star Fox Command. For fans of the franchise, it didn't exactly end on a positive note...not what you expect when you beat a game.
The point made, however, is that this game is all about choices...the path you take will ultimately shape your future (the end justifying the means, to be cliche). That point could be made with a good ending, but I don't think you can drive it home quite as strongly without the right motivation.
To put it bluntly: The end sucks...but it doesn't have to.
...
Slick! As much as a canonical ending would've made the status of the Star Fox world a lot less chaotic (especially since there's no indication when this storyline will ever be resolved...IF ever), it was a clever introduction to the multiple paths/endings feature. I'm not even going to get into discussion on those endings, though...in a nutshell, there were good times ("Good-Bye, Fox", "Lucy and Krystal"), and then there weren't so good times ("Star Wolf Returns", anything involving Pigma and all the dimwittedness of "Fox and Krystal"). I'll elaborate if I must, but it's something that I've touched on enough in the last two years.
F-zero, the ending just doesn't fit ANYWHERE in commands paths. Yes, I know the James McCloud connections, but that ending didn't make one bit o sense to me.

Actually for the new Starfox for the Wii they are going to use the one ending where Krystal and Fox had a son, Marcus. Rumor has it Fox and the rest of the team would of retired and that their childern take up the mantle. I won't say more as to not spoil the surprise if any of it is true. Know that the rumor states that Fox will not be a part of the team in Wii.
